Using a POTS Phone System with VoIP Lines
Tim Schultz writes "A station I am doing work for just ordered an Nx6 POTS system; they also want to save some money by using a VoIP provider instead of paying the telephone company for POTS lines. I plan to purchase a multi-line (probably an 8-station) terminal adapter to convert the VoIP back into analog (FXS) lines. I'm guessing not all terminal adapters are not created equal as far as audio quality is concerned. Are there some that you can recommend, or perhaps warn me to stay away from?"

Nigam Upadhyaya of Rajkot, India writes, "We have Telos Nx6 Talkshow Systems at both our studio and transmitter sites. They are connected with a wi-fi Motorola 5.8Ghz Canopy. Both work nicely with PSTN line and also IP setting. Can I connect via Axia Livewire on an IP based Canopy? If yes, than how would it work?"

Telos' Kirk Harnack helps open the information stream
The broadcast community has been abuzz the past few weeks with the news of a major Telco's decision to stop installing ISDN lines. And no wonder: ISDN has been the broadcaster's medium of choice for long-distance, CD-quality remote broadcasts since the original Zephyr made the scene in 1994.

Phoenix Station Declares 25-Seven PDM "Just Works"
And really, isn't that the way things ought to be?
Bonneville's KTAR was not happy with the performance with their profanity delay. Due to the stations unique needs, such as to precisely sync to their TV station's audio during simulcast baseball games, Gary Smith, director of engineering, was justifiably skeptical that Program Delay Manager would be up to the task.

Vintage Technology: Carroll Shelby liked Las Vegas - a LOT
He liked it so much, in fact, that he built his headquarters there, not far from the Las Vegas Speedway, and only about 15 minutes from The Strip (make that <5 minutes if you're driving a GT500KR). Shelby, of course, was the Texan who thought it would be cool to stuff a Ford V-8 into a British 2-seat sports car, and see how much asphalt he could melt (turns out, it was quite a lot).

Five Things You Should Know about IP Audio
Recently, a friend asked me to give him five advantages that IP-Audio (or AoIP, if you prefer) has over other, older technologies. Just five?! I had to do some head scratching and significant paring-down, but was eventually able to come up with a manageable list. So here they are, in no particular order:

Axia shows up in photos from all over
We've been seeing Axia in photos everywhere lately - from smartphone games (see "Axia Enters Pop Culture") to celebrity photo tweets. Recently, we received the photo above from Bob Page, Radio Broadcast Specialist at Universal Studios Orlando. You'll likely recognize actor and TV host Mario Lopez, and his lovely wife Courtney M. Lopez (Miss USA 2010), who tweeted the pic posing in front of that gorgeous console in the radio studios at Universal Studios, where they were shooting episodes of Extra!.
