Ask The Omnia Guy: Maximum Audio Processing on a Minimum Budget

Welcome to another edition of "Ask The Omnia Guy", a continuing series of expert answers by the Omnia guy, Paul Kriegler, to real-world questions from our electronic mailbag. Our question:

Q: "Hey Omnia Guy - I have a budget of about $5000 for a new FM audio processor. Is there a solution that falls somewhere between the Omnia VOLT and Omnia.11 that works with my budget?"

A:Yes! The Omnia.9sg. 'But wait', you say, 'isn't Omnia.9sg just a standalone stereo generator? I need a full audio processor!' Well, right you are - except that's not all that Omnia.9sg can do.

You can purchase the "Local Processing" option for Omnia.9sg, which includes a 4-band version of Omnia.9 processing as well as Omnia.9's psychoacoustically controlled distortion-masking clipper. A complement of over 20 audio processing presets are included. There are also internal playback capabilities for automatic playout of stored audio files, a suite of sound-analysis tools including an oscilloscope, FFT spectrum analyzer, and Real-Time Analyzer (RTA), plus optional RDS encoding. In fact, processing-wise, the only things not included are the Omnia.9 "Undo" function and HD Radio processing capability.

To sum it up: Omnia.9sg with the Local Processing option delivers that Omnia Sound you've been wanting at a cost-effective price point that'll make people sit up and take notice. It's an excellent way to get high-end processing on a mid-range budget.
