Held each May in Southwest Ohio, the Dayton Hamvention is considered to be the premier Amateur Radio convention in North America. Telos' Ted Alexander – a veteran of forty Hamventions – provided us with some insight into this year's show, held May 16-18 at Dayton's Hara Arena.

What’s the Deal with AES67?

By now, you’ve likely heard that the Audio Engineering Society (AES) has ratified the AES67 standard, which defines how Audio over IP (AoIP) systems from different manufacturers should interoperate.

The question, now that there’s a published specification, is — where do we go from here?

We helped create and sustain the effort to create an interoperability spec, as well as contributing our technology and experience, to make creating the standard easier. Ted Alexander: Radio Fan Engineers Amazing Broadcast Career

If it can be done in radio, Ted Alexander has probably done it. Broadcast Engineer, Disc Jockey, Talk Show Host, Traffic Reporter, Voiceover Artist… and now Support Specialist for The Telos Alliance. Ted’s career in the industry spans more than five decades – impressive enough – but his interest in radio goes back as far as he can remember. “Before I could walk,” Ted says, “lying on my back in bed… the buttons on my clothes looked like buttons on a radio, and I thought ‘If I could somehow push a button and make radio come out…’ To this day, I’m as fascinated with radio as I ever was.”
