With G-Force, it is easier than ever to get the sound you are looking for with the Quick Setup Tab!

Our suggested method for using G-Force for the first time is to listen to all of the presets while offline. Pick the ones that sound closest to what you want on-air. Then put the Omnia.11 G-Force on-air, listen to those candidate presets on your “trusted” radios, and decide on one to start with.

KHOWL Intercepts Local Listeners with Livewire

Snarl Greywolf is Co-Owner and General Manager at KHOWL (KHWL 98.7), the local rock station in Lone Wolf, Oklahoma, about 105 miles southwest of Oklahoma City. KHOWL maintains a big presence in the local community, appearing at just about every event in the area. Live broadcasts are lifeblood, and as a relative newcomer to the area, having operated only about five years, doing so many remotes at local events and getting in front of people is how KHOWL has made a name for itself.

Paravel cofounder Fred Gleason

Originally developed for Salem Communications in the early 2000s, Rivendell is a widely-used radio automation program. After developing the system using the open-source Linux platform and tweaking it to do automation the way Salem did it, Rivendell creator (now President and Chief Developer) Fred Gleason, who had worked for Salem himself, founded Paravel Systems. We sat down for a chat with Fred recently to get the story of Paravel and how Rivendell came about.

Every once in a while we come across a broadcaster or radio station so interesting and unique, we have to tell the story. Earlier this year the Telos Alliance van paid a visit to one such station, just a couple hours south of our Cleveland headquarters. There, in Ohio’s state capital of Columbus, is independent CD 102.5 (WWCD), the Alternative Station.

Magnetic Tape and the Emergence of High-Fidelity Recording

In the earliest days of sound recording (late 1880s to 1926), all recordings were made acoustically. That is to say, a recording machine with a large horn with a needle on the other end was set before an orchestra and the vibrations from the needle would “draw” a pattern on a spinning wax cylinder (or later flat disc). If a vocalist was called upon to sing, they would stand before the horn and sing right into it.
